Kolibri v0.12 is here!
We are thrilled to announce the arrival of Kolibri v0.12, the Coach Dashboard release!
Available in Windows, Ubuntu/Debian, and Linux/Mac. Download the installer here.
0.12.0 marks the next step in Kolibri’s evolution towards a platform that supports coaches in real time; offering seamless updates of current user progress, and a notification stream to keep the coach aware of learner progress, and of when learners need help to continue in their learning, allowing the coach to intervene ‘just in time’.
This release also starts Kolibri on the journey of supporting a much broader range of content, by allowing HTML5 applications to store data between sessions, allowing learners to pick up where they left off in complex, immersive HTML5 learning applications.
Last but not least, we are also proud of the ever-expanding input of the broader community to this release, from code contributions on our Kolibri Github repo, to heroic efforts in translation. An example is the work done by a local community in Cameroon, who not only localized the Kolibri platform and Khan Academy content into Fulfulde Mbororoore, but also worked with us to test as we brought the translated content into Kolibri. If you want to help, you can test a new version of Kolibri, translate Kolibri into a new language, or help out with issues on our Github!
New features in Kolibri v0.12, include:
- Actionable coach notifications: See real-time updates on learner progress and activity
- Completely new coach report information architecture: Separate ‘Class Home’, ‘Reports’, and ‘Plan’ tabs to support formative assessment and differentiated lesson planning
- Multiple-group functionality for learners: Learners can now be placed in multiple groups at once. This allows grouping by different relevant factors in the classroom, making differentiated instruction easier.
- Improved quiz creation and previewing: a better previewing experience that lets you see more easily what learners will see in a quiz
